01.05.2025 · Dolomites

On the thirty-first day of May ’25, we met Milda and Aismantas in the Dolomites.

They had already said their vows back home in Vilnius, Lithuania. Their wedding had taken place surrounded by their people, their language, their city. But for their honeymoon, they chose the mountains. And they asked us one simple question — would we photograph them in their wedding clothes again, this time somewhere in Italy?

Of course.

I suggested my favourite place in the Dolomites — Lake Carezza. And to balance the softness of the lake, we added one of the mountain passes I love most for wedding photography — Passo Sella.

I often choose passes for after wedding or elopement sessions in the Dolomites for one simple reason: they are beautifully accessible. You can arrive by car, step out, walk only a few metres from the road — and you are already surrounded by something monumental. No hiking. No helicopters. Just mountains, right there.

It was a bright, beautiful spring day.

They were so in love it almost felt effortless. The way they looked at each other, the way they smiled before even touching — photographing them was easy. Natural. Light.

The only thing they were worried about?

The time.

We planned the session at noon.

“In the middle of the day? In the mountains?” they asked me, slightly sceptical.
“Won’t the shadows be too harsh? Won’t the peaks disappear?”

I smiled.

“I don’t believe in bad light,” I told them. “Trust me.”

And they did.

At Lake Carezza, the water reflected the sky in deep turquoise tones. The sun was high, yes — but it carved their silhouettes beautifully against the dramatic backdrop. At Passo Sella, the mountains stood strong and clear, every texture visible, every line defined. The light wasn’t soft or romantic in the usual way. It was bold. Honest. Almost cinematic.

They laughed about their worries later.

Because sometimes, it’s not about chasing perfect sunset light. It’s about confidence. About understanding how the mountains work. About seeing beauty exactly where you are.

On the thirty-first day of May ’25, two newlyweds from Lithuania trusted us with their Dolomites after wedding session.

And under the strongest midday sun, it turned into something softer than we could have planned. 🤍
